For those of you who don't live in Connecticut, I thought you might enjoy a picture of the deer in our backyard. We get all sorts of animals running through our 1.5 acres of yard and woods. Last year I found about 5 wild turkeys perched on our deck and playset. We keep our garbage can in the garage to avoid the racoons knocking it over and rummaging through it. We are attempting to grow some vegetables this year and we'll see if we can keep the animals away. We are planting peas, carrots, beans, tomatoes, strawberries and blackberries.
Good luck on the garden! You will likely have to build a tall fence to keep the deer out, but your hubby is so handy, I am sure he can manage it (after the basement is done, of course) *wink*.
