Scott has been educating the boys on the local history of Ledyard and Gales Ferry (where we live). Gales Ferry got its name from the ferry that was based here. Here's a picture of the boys where the ferry used to launch. There are lots of old houses dating back to the 1700's where Revolutionary War veterens lived, as well as whaling ship captains. We got to go inside the old Ledyard one-room schoolhouse. We also saw the outhouse. I bet it was cold in the winter!
Maybe I drive by it all the time, but I can't figure out where the one-room schoolhouse is (it's not the one on Hurlbutt, is it?) We'd love to check it out!
