Lt. Thomas Leffingwell is my great grandfather about 12 times (through my grandmother, Delpha Card Park). He is one of the founding fathers of Norwich, CT. Last weekend we went to the re-enactment of the deed signing for the 350th year celebration.
We also visited the Leffingwell Inn, which is the oldest building in Norwich. It is very exciting to be such a big part of our local history. I have more ancestors from Norwich, as well as ancestors who settled Stonington, CT. We found our family connections through familysearch.org and are researching the area to find grave sites and other family history places to visit. I now feel like a local, even though I was born and grew up on the other side of the country.
How cool!
