Growing up in a small, desert town way out West, to visit a place like Maine was a dream for me. Maine is beautiful and our family had a wonderful five day vacation there. We stayed in Boothbay, rode a steam train, camped in Acadia National Park, and visited Bar Harbor. We watched whales, saw lighthouses, canoed, biked, hiked and swam. We ate lobster and it really did taste better in Maine! We picked wild blueberries at our campsite and ate blueberry pancakes and blueberry cobbler cooked over the campfire. Sam said he wished marshmallows grew on bushes and that Connecticut was famous for them. Owen piped in that he wished it was chocolate chip cookies. I kept thinking back to all the family camping trips I went on as a kid and thanks Mom and Dad for teaching me how to cook and make a campsite homey. The kids had so much fun they didn't want to come home and Sam says we need to go to Maine every year.

Very cool! I loved eating the wild blue berries. Now I get blue berries at the store and they look so pathetic.
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks like so much fun! Maybe we'll steal that idea for a vacation, minus the camping part! Haha, I'm not much of a camper.
