Hawaii for Two

One of the crazy trees we saw on the hike to Manoa Falls

At Waimea Falls
(we did swim out to the waterfall, but were too tired to do it again and take a picture. It is 30 feet deep out by the falls)

Work sent Scott to Hawaii and everything came together so that I could join him! It was our first vacation together (for more than one night) away from the kids. We split the kids up among friends who were willing to add our little monsters to their own families for about a week. We can't thank you enough! I was worried the most about our baby Ruby, but true to her nature, she had little issues with us being gone. Sam, on the other hand, got very homesick by the end and I almost started crying hearing how sad he was when we talked on the phone. He cheered up a bit when I mentioned that we bought him presents. Owen said he was great every time we talked.

Scott and I had a lovely time on the island of Oahu. We stayed in Waikiki since Scott's business stuff was in Honolulu. We visited the North Shore and went to the Polynesian Cultural Center for a fantastic show of drums, hula dancing, and fire twirling. We also walked through the gardens at Waimea Valley and swam in a waterfall. For all you Lost fans, it was the same waterfall that Kate and Sawyer found the dead guy in. We hiked to a Manoa Falls and it is a very tall waterfall, more wild surroundings and a very muddy hike. We saw lots of exotic fish while snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. Scott got himself a genuine Hawaiian ukulele made from Koawood and we got a couple of toy ones for the kids. We also got Ruby a hula costume and Hawaiian dress.

  1. So glad it all worked out! Aren't couple getaways the best?!? :) We can't wait for our vacation to China next month...though it probably won't be nearly as warm & beautiful as Hawaii!
