Matching Girls

I have two older sisters and one younger sister. When we were younger (and before girl #4 came) my Mom would make matching dresses for us for Easter or Christmas. That meant that I got to wear the same dress for several years. Once I outgrew my dress I still had two more in the next sizes up waiting for me. Although, I think it is very cute, I never really wanted to do the same for my girls. I remember really liking the dresses the first time around, so my Mom did a great job of making something pretty, but I got so tired of the same dress.

Ruby sees many of her friends matching their sisters and she wants to match Violet. So for Christmas, I bought matching dresses for the girls complete with silver shoes, hair bows and tights. The first Sunday after Christmas, Ruby refused to wear her dress. She said that she only wants to match Violet in play clothes. Scott tried everything to get her to wear it (for me), but I knew it wouldn't help. Ruby is very determined and some battles aren't worth it. So Violet wore her dress and looked lovely and Ruby wore her black skirt and a white shirt with black hearts on it.

The following Sunday Ruby decided to wear her dress, (she wanted to wear long sleeves underneath, even though she has a white sweater to wear on top. At least she picked white, I think she originally wanted pink stripes.) Violet was already dressed, but I quickly changed her clothes and we were able to snap a picture of them together.

*One of Ruby's friends has the same dress and she wore it the same day. The girls were so excited!
