Happy Halloween

The kids had a great Halloween. There were multiple parties and they got to wear their costumes several times. I was very excited to be able to dress our darling Ruby as Dorothy, complete with Ruby slippers (thanks Target). Sam wanted to be a lion without any coaxing from me. I made his costume out of a $4 fleece blanket from Walmart and felt strips for the mane. I ran out of fabric for sleeves, but decided it was better that way because he would probably be much to hot in all that fleece! I wanted Owen to be a scarecrow or the Tin Man, but if you know anything about Owen he lives and breathes for trains. He was a Thomas train before, but this year he wanted to be a deisel and he didn't want his train to have a face. Scott went above and beyond to make it realistic, including a working headlight, which was very helpful while trick-or-treating in our dark and woodsy neighborhood. The costume is modeled after our local Providence Worcester railroad.

Both the boys got tired early of trick-or-treating, but not little Ruby. She and Dad kept going even after Owen and Sam came home early with Mom to hand out candy. Ruby rarely let us carry her and learned to say a new word, "walk".

Happy Halloween!

  1. They are so cute...especially Ruby as Dorothy. And shocking that Owen wanted to be a train! Sounds like Ruby & Natalie would have been good trick-or-treating pals. Natalie was quite the trooper over here too.

  2. Love the Dorothy/Lion combo! So cute! And the working headlight on the train is awesome! Nice work on the costumes you two!
