Birthdays

We made it through birthday season at our house. The girls birthdays are four days apart and the boys birthdays are eight days  apart and Scott and my birthdays fall somewhere in the mix.

Violet turned three this year. She is still my little baby, but she's technically not a baby anymore. She had a chocolate cake in the shape of a butterfly and her favorite gift was the movie Frozen (and as mentioned in a previous post her costume of Frozen).

Grandma Jensen made the girls these dresses for their birthdays. So cute!
Ruby turned six and had a Lego Friends late night birthday party. Six girls came in their pajamas. We made pizzas, played Lego Friend Bingo, ate rainbow cake and stayed up late for a movie. There were pillows, blankets and stuffed animals everywhere and the girls were cozy mashed up together to watch the latest Tinkerbell. Then their parents' picked them up at 9:00 pm. Everything a sleepover has except the sleeping and I didn't have to deal with a bunch of excited little girls all night long or the next morning. It was great!

Ruby's "Lego Cake" the Legos are candies.

Owen turned nine this year and Sam turned eleven. They wanted to go to Olive Garden for their birthday dinner and try calamari. Both boys got a lot of nerf gear for fun backyard battles.

Scott got a sausage maker for his birthday and has made some very delicious meats, especially the ones he prepared with his smoker.

I got a new sewing machine for my birthday (or maybe it was mother's day, they sometimes land on the same day). I've been using the same sewing machine since my high school graduation present, but that one finally died. It's a fun new toy for me.

It has become tradition for Scott to make me this insanely delicious lemon layer cake.
It tastes even better than it looks.

  1. Sounds like a lot of fun! I especially like the idea of a late night party vs a sleepover.
